Where is Lake Norman?

Lake Norman is the largest man-made body of water in North Carolina and it's sometimes called the inland sea. It has over 520 miles of shoreline and a surface area of over 50 square miles. That's bigger than the size of San Francisco! The lake is 33.6 miles at its longest and 9 miles at its widest points and offers endless opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming and kayaking.

In addition to the lake fun, the area has lots of other activities to offer such as mountain biking, Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR garage tours, NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum, Racing Hall of Fame Museum, outdoor summer concerts, and the Carolina Raptor Center.

Lake Norman is conveniently located about 45 minutes north of Charlotte, 2.5 hours west of Raleigh, 4 hours northeast of Atlanta and 4 hours southwest of Richmond. CLT is the closest airport. Come and check out Lake Norman!

Welcome to Edgewater Escape, our lakefront home with incredible views that evoke a feeling of escape and relaxation. Our location is one of the best on Lake Norman because we are perfectly protected in a large cove yet so close to the main lake. This is my sanctuary from life's hustle and bustle, and I'm excited to share it with you.

Outside Areas:

Our large, private cove is perfect for swimming and fishing, with very little boat traffic. You'll have peaceful waters for kayaks and SUPs, while still being minutes away from big water and the main lake.

Enjoy access to the water via dock stairs, and make sue of our four kayaks, two paddle boards, and life vests. You can also rent a boat and have it delivered to our deep water dock or bring your own and launch from the nearby public boat launch. Local marinas and dock-and-dine restaurants are just around the corner, though still out of sight.

Spend your evenings around the smokeless firepit or unwind in our 6-person hot tub with multiple jet settings and LED mood lights. Our covered deck and patio areas offer multiple spots to enjoy the outdoors regardless of the weather, and you can cast your favorite music to the outdoor Bluetooth speakers.

Common House Areas:

Inside, the large ground-floor family room is designed to entertain everyone. Play air hockey, foosball, or travel back to the 1980s with our vintage arcade featuring 32 of the most popular. The 75” TV is perfect for big games or family movies with in-ceiling Bluetooth speakers available for your enjoyment.

Upstairs, almost every room boasts incredible views of the lake. The open concept living room connects to the kitchen and the covered deck spaces, offering a second a second 75” TV for your viewing pleasure.

Televisions:

All seven TVs are Roku Smart TVs set up in guest mode. You can log into your own accounts and enjoy your favorite shows while ensuring that your accounts are automatically erased upon checkout. All Roku TVs support Apple AirPlay and the two 75" TVs (Living Room and Basement) also support Chromecast.

Kitchen/House Basics Provided:

Our fully stocked kitchen and gas grill make meal preparation simple. We

provide all household basics including spices, olive oil, coffee filters, K-cups, tea, sugar, creamer, paper towels, napkins, baggies, saran wrap, aluminum foil, dish soap, dishwasher tabs, hand soap, grill propane, toilet paper, laundry detergent, and garbage bags. Small appliances include a Keurig (with iced and hot coffee options), a 12 cup drip coffee maker, coffee grinder, slow cooker, Instant Pot, rice maker, waffle iron, hand mixer, toaster, blender, ice cream maker and mini food processor. We also have a selection of cookware, bakeware, kitchen utensils, Tupperware, and serving dishes.

Each bedroom is furnished with comfortable mattresses, high-quality linesns, a variety of pillows, blackout curtains, mirrors, adjustable speed ceiling fans, and Roku Smart TV.

The Primary bedroom includes a king-sized bed, an ensuite with a walk-in shower, and a free-standing soaking tub. The two other main-floor queen bedrooms share a common bathroom, while the ground-level king-size bedroom has a bathroom immediately outside the door.

Showers:

All showers have spa-like dual shower heads with rainfall and massage settings. We provide luxury shampoo, conditioner, and body wash made with premium ingredients. Plush towels, hairdryers, and kid-friendly step stools are also available.

Kid Suite:

The separage kid suite features four bunk beds and a TV room designed for video gaming. You bring your favorite gaming console, and we’ll provide the 55” TV and a cool atmosphere with adjustable LED lighting. There's even a beanbag chair converts to a full-size mattress in case your group has more than 4 kids that want to sleep together.

Infant/Toddlers:

We have provided a highchair, a pac and play, sheets, and plastic cups, plates, bowls and toddler utensils for your convenience.

Office:

Need to work? Then use our comfortable office complete with a monitor, mouse, and laptop stand. Close the French doors for privacy and get your work down efficiently.

Personalized Recommendations:

-Coffee: Enjoy your cofee on our covered deck anytime of the day. Or visit Down for Doughnuts, where handmade doughnots are made to order by people with Down Syndrome.

-Pie: Visit the Carolina Pie Company for the most delicious fruit, cream or rich and gooey pies. Our favorite is the bumbleberry!

-Fresh Produce: Check out Josh's Farmers Market for fresh produce, seafood from the OBX, baked goods and dairy.

-Activities: Rent a boat and explore Lake Norman, or visit Mountain Creek Park for mountain biing. The Raptor Center and Zootastic Park are great for kids.

-No parties: We love a good time, but let's keep it neighbor friendly.

-No pets: Unfortunately, we can't accomodate pets.

-Quiet hours: 10pm to 8am

Security:

Three outdoor cameras ensure your safety and peace of mind. They are located at the front door, far side of yard away from the guest areas, and the driveway.

Wildlife:

Being by the lake means you might see some local wildlife. We do regular pest control, but Mother Nature is always around.

Our family visited Lake Norman for the first time in the summer of 2020. We immediately fell in love with the lake and started searching for our dream home that very trip! There is just something about Lake Norman that makes it so easy to escape busy life and relax so you can enjoy quality family time.

Edgewater Escape is a dream come true for us. We've put a lot of love and care into our home to make it a wonderful place for families to get away. We love to start our days by drinking coffee on the covered deck watching the sun glistening on the lake. Then we spend the rest of the day enjoying the water. After dinner on the deck, we spend hours playing games in the well stocked game room. Finally, we end our day by soaking in the 6-person hot tub or roasting marshmellows around the smokeless firepit - all while watching the night lights reflecting on the water.

We love sharing our home with others so they can create their own memories at Lake Norman. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay great.

Fabulously Equipped! Peaceful Retreat!

Our holiday in this newly updated vacation home was stellar! The property was immaculately clean including the house, porches, outdoor furniture, kayaks, outdoor swing, hot tub, and dock! And, every area was completely equipped!

The kitchen included a wide range of appliances, pots/pans, seasonings and utensils. The kitchen gear was fresh and useable! Many vacation rentals tout equipped kitchens, but this kitchen was truly equipped with gear that was not scratched, dirty, rusted and in ruins. Plenty of kitchen towels provided, paper towels, dish soap, coffee options galore, and also a special welcome treat from our hosts.

The game room was stuffed with board games, the foosball and air hockey tables, cornhole, and a huge TV for the big games/races. And, the dock was equipped with life vests and kickboards. We enjoyed the kayaks and the SUPs in the quiet cove.

Many locations on Lake Norman are to be avoided because of the crowds of boats on the water right behind the house. This is a quiet cove that affords peaceful swimming off of the dock and gentle waters for kayaks and SUPs. The outdoor swing and many outdoor seating areas on the patio and balcony were respites for rest, and the outdoor table and grill made the perfect setup for family meals overlooking the lake.

Our host was very communicative and helped us with dinner recommendations for our first night and grocery store recommendations for our food purchases! What a wonderful place to spend a holiday weekend with a big family! We did not want to leave! We hope to come back! Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

Amazing home. Amazing spot on the water.

This home has absolutely all you need and even a little more. It's immaculately clean, the bed and bath linens are plush and fresh, the kitchen is very well appointed to help with meal prep and service.

And the kids, well you will never see them because they will be downstairs in their own gaming space or out on the water in the safety of a cove.

The first night we had an amazing pink sunset and the views of sunrise and sunset each day didn't disappoint. The spot on the lake is superb - it's in a cove at the start of a finger so you don't get big lake traffic and wake. The kids can swim right off the dock or use the kayaks and SUPs provided by the property. Our youngest (age 8) caught two bass from the dock.

Renting a boat is as easy as going a few miles to Queens Landing and enjoying this upper section of the lake and all the fun spots to boat. To top it all off - the hot tub helps relax the day away and watch the night sky reflect off the lake just below. We'll be back...
